Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 8, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how "Auto-Expire for Google Drive™" (the "Service") collects, uses, and protects your information. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and handling your data with transparency.
2. Information We Access
The Service operates as a Google Workspace Add-on and requires the following OAuth scopes to function:
- Google Drive (
drive): To read file metadata, sharing permissions, and to revoke or modify sharing access as configured by you. - Drive Activity (
drive.activity.readonly): To check when a file was last viewed, enabling the Risk Audit stagnation detection feature. - User Email (
userinfo.email): To identify your account for license verification and to match your email to your license key. - Script Triggers (
script.scriptapp): To create and manage time-based triggers that automate permission revocation. - Add-on Metadata (
drive.addons.metadata.readonly): Required for the add-on to operate within Google Drive.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
We want to be very clear about the data we do not access, collect, or store:
- File contents: We never read, download, copy, or transmit the contents of your files.
- Personal documents: We only access file metadata (names, sharing permissions, activity timestamps) — never the documents themselves.
- External servers: The Service does not send any of your data to external servers. All processing happens within Google's infrastructure via Apps Script.
- Analytics or tracking: We do not use third-party analytics, cookies, or tracking scripts within the add-on.
4. Data Storage
All data stored by the Service remains within Google's infrastructure using Google Apps Script's built-in storage:
- User Properties: Your license key and personal preferences (e.g., expiry days, vendor folder selection) are stored in your Google account's
UserPropertiesstorage. Only you can access this data. - Cache: License verification results are cached temporarily (up to 5 minutes) using Google Apps Script's
CacheServiceto improve performance. - Custom File Properties: When Auto-Expiry is active, a custom property (
expiryDate) is added to shared files to track when access should be revoked. This property is stored as file metadata within Google Drive.
5. License Verification
License key verification is performed entirely offline:
- Your license key is a cryptographically signed token verified locally within the add-on.
- No network calls are made to external servers for license verification.
- The license key is stored in your
UserPropertiesand is accessible only by you.
6. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. When you make a purchase:
- You are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page.
- We do not see or store your credit card details.
- Stripe sends us only the information necessary to generate and deliver your license key (your email address and the purchased tier).
7. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with the following third-party services:
- Google Workspace APIs: Core functionality. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
No other third-party services receive your data.
8. Data Retention
- User Properties: Stored as long as the add-on is installed. Uninstalling the add-on removes this data.
- Custom File Properties: Remain on files until the expiry action is completed or the property is manually removed.
- Cache: Automatically expires after 5 minutes.
9. Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Revoke access: You can revoke the Service's access to your Google account at any time via Google Account Permissions.
- Uninstall: Removing the add-on deletes all stored User Properties.
- Data request: Contact us to request information about any data associated with your account.
10. Children's Privacy
